VW Carmanne-GHIA
The
implementation of this model is in the transition from the old model to the
newer model slightly changed: the arc of the roof to the newer model slightly
different.
The colors Light Beige, beige and dark brown (reddish brown) are rare.
At the beginning of the fifties built Volkswagen small, energy-efficient and
reliable cars like the Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Transporter. When the
world began to recover from the Second World War, the demand for stylish and
elegant cars again. The VW management decided that a model that had the image of
Volkswagen would screw up and demanding that car buyers could make happy.
Volkswagen sought in 1951 with bodywork builder Karmann in Osnabrück, in order
to build such a car. Karmann in turn turned to the Italian design Ghia in Turin,
for the design of a sports car. Ghia had in 1953 a design for the American
automobile manufacturer Chrysler. This was never used. The design was adjusted
so that the model in a slightly enlarged base of a Volkswagen Beetle would fit.
Below are all known Carmanne-VW GHIA models shown or mentioned.
